Still here

Hi all

Not been around lately due to domestic pressures but have made some time
to try improve my skills.
I now have a vacuum and pressure chamber and now
enjoying trying to dry out, stabilize and turn into pens.

I have taken some pictures but photography is not my best
subject :-)

I'll agree with you Frederick - the photo obviously does not do these pens justice. But I can still see that they are a trio of well-turned and finished pens! The woods that you have used are interesting and you have got a good finish to them. I like them a lot!

Hello Peter
Great to talk again. The top pen is spalted Elm. How I managed to come by it I do not know. I think it came in a batch of wood I bought for another job from the local timber merchant.
The remaining two are spalted Beech. I took a small log from the local wood; dried and stablised it.

It looks like you have managed to stabilize well - the spalting and such in those blanks were probably a lathe disaster waiting to happen before you treated them. Congratulations on the process.
