Those who saw my demo at Wear Valley in April will remember that the reason I didn't finish my closed end Beaufort Mistral (posted last week) was due to my messing up the first attempt. Normally when a blank gets damaged I just turn it away and re-use the tube but I liked this bit of bubinga so I salvaged it by inventing the "stubby" Mistral. Not big enough for an ink pump but fine with a cartridge. Here is the result alongside a standard sized Mistral.

Hi Walter

Yep I remember that...

While I feel for those demonstrating when something does not go as planned ....as a novice it give me hope !

If you have been doing it for years and still things dont go right then my disasters are OK.

Anyway you learn just as much from the problems ... as you do from what goes right...well I do.

Great to see the outcome and how you have redesigned after a bit of an issue... love the grains

Beaufort Ink has a new short converter going online soon that will fit your pen Walter. I'll pop one in the post to you on Monday.

Thank you for all your kind comments.

Thanks also to Phil Dart who generously sent me one of Beaufort’s new short converters. It arrived in this morning’s post and is a fine addition to the pen. Almost an artwork in itself.
