Sycamore Burr on a Slimline Pen

This is one of the blanks i bought from Dave (lignaterrae) it is a Sycamore Burr on a black satin slimline pen kit. It has eight coats of friction polish and two coats of renaissance wax ... The center band is made from Ebony ...

Ooooh now that's nice, really nice !

I think I see what you mean about the middle turning in a touch, do you do the same at the top and the nib ?

If I can be nosy what diameter is it roughly ?

Phill, i try to work the barrel between 11 to 10.5mm and the lower barrel 10mm at the top tapering down to the nib .. I always leave the nib end a bit proud but turned over at the edge and the barrel i always turn the edge from the back of the blank to give me the shape i get ... Hope this helps ... :wink:

Mine a slimmer than that, hence nothing available to round off.

Lesson learned !

That's why I really like this place, the sharing of skills and knowledge is second to none, a godsend for beginners like me.
