In amongst a bag of exoctic blanks I brought at John Davis shop on the Southerns Meet. I found a blank called 'Tambootie' apparently comes from South Africa.
Turning was quite easy but did notice I had to keep sharpening my skew and it has quite a pleasant smell.
Mounted it onto a JR Gent Gold Fountain Penkit from Timberbits, finished a drop of BLO and CA. Micromesh then T-Cut.

Thoughts :thinks:

Quality pen Rowdy great finish that you have achieved ...never heard of that wood before ..the piece that you have used looks like a darker version of a piece of Tiger oak that I used on a Baron a few weeks ago.

Rowdy,

Are you still with us or did you get permission from the King?

Tambootie, the Royal wood of the Zulus. Grows predominantly in the Zulu Natal area of South Africa and is also known as African Sandalwood. It is in great demand because the Indians traditionally burn sandalwood at their funerals, and having quite a lot of them and subsequently dying, means that they have rather stupidly burnt most of their own Sandalwood for absolutely no benefit whatsoever. They have started to pilfer the Tambootie stocks as an alternative and as the Indians are a superstitious bunch, the King of the Zulus has placed a death wish on anyone who touches the Royal Wood without his express approval.

On a serious note, dont put the offcuts or shavings on your woodburner and definately dont cook over the offcuts on a barbeque, it will give you dysentry like problems as an absolute minimum.

Nice pen!

Very nice Rowdy, sounds like it should be a bit of Scottish timber
