Thanks for the comments. The tankard was made from 3X3X8 inch Applewood. The bands were turned in the wood I measured and marked them and left them while I turned the rest. They were blackened with a piece if scrap wood after sanding. The "rivets" are pinheads glued into the bands. The staved look was achieved by using the lathe's indexing system and marking each end of the piece and pyrographed 12 lines to give the barrel effect. I used sanding sealer then mineral oil on the outside, then a friction polish mixture that luckily didn't shine. The inside had a few applications of Osmo top oil food safe finish. Basically it;'s a lidless box with a handle which was cut on the bandsaw and the shape refined with small drum sanders.
