I do use a trimmer on lots of the blanks Ed, but as others have said on some woods, it is best to use something similar to this.. Also, if you look at the picture you will see that the blank is turned, i used my disc sander to square the blanks as i do on all burrs prior to turning. What you see in the image is me making sure that the blank is 100 % true to fit the accents perfectly when building up the pen .. :bwink:
