Paul I am gonna be picky because your work is so good, that is a superberly turned and finished pen but the clip button looks awful.
That is not your fault, it's the kit.
Can I suggest you lose it in the top of the pen That would be great for me thanks.

Take a guess
I prefer the shape of the other you've posted tonight Paul, whilst I can't fault your workmanship the shape of this one just looks wrong some how, too top heavy I think :thinks:

Paul, the matching contrasts on the top was a novel idea the timbers so shiny the pic easy to see the shape a bit choked at the centre but I am sure great to use the timbers unusual in short lots of things happening with your pen. It came together well and should be a delight to use, thanks for showing mate.

Kind regards Peter.

You're right Brian, but what clip to use? I could do with some custom made I think... Now then when she's out next I may just order a cnc machine. I wonder if she'll notice.

Thanks for all the comments, I take them all onboard and find them very helpful. I'm experimenting all the time trying to find something bit different and its only with the aid of your comments that eventually I'll get a shape with clothing I'm happy with... and then I'll start on another kit probably.

Love the finish Paul, also i like how you have used the two woods with the Gold accents .. But my opinion is that the top looks to thick and heavy to carry this clip, not a bad word on your craftsmanship thou my friend ..

Try enlarging the top hole and sinking the button inside to lower it somewhat.
I think that would suit the style you are creating.
You may have to strengthen it with some ca and cut a small recess for the clip.
I know you will be successful and have a great looking and unique to you pen.

Paul, yet another cracker mate.. Agree with Grumps on this one.
Why not try turning up your own clip button out of wood...:thinks::thinks::thinks:

I like that idea Rowdy and that will now be something I do but I think its the clip as well that's wrong as several have noticed and that's where I'm stuffed.

Or try cutting your original bit of pen blank the length of the tube + the length of the top button turn it then cut it at an angled recess down to the tube for the clip then the top button will be buried trust me it looks good especially if the top bit of wood is a contrasting colour

I think that between you and Rowdy, you have the answer Brian. I was blind to what you were saying but now need to get to the shed asap to try it out. Thanks for your excellent suggestion. Well I say excellent, we'll see if I can do it or not.
