Here is a Thatchers Cider Apple tree pen. Finished with ca. Part of an order of 3.

Another nice looking pen, the darrk accents set off an otherwise qiuet plainish bit of wood.

At first glance it has a look of Yew to it ... :winking: As Brian states, you made a good choice with the accents making it a very nice pen ... :thumbs:

I does look a bit like Yew Jim but the smell certainly says its apple when you turn it. Its a nice wood to work with.

Paul, I agree with everyone so far the timber reminds me of Carob tree timber pinkish with flashes of brown to black.

My first thoughts were the Thatched houses in the UK or famous Lady Thatcher very pleased to see Thatchers Apple for the first time.

Its good that you're getting better Peter and finally accepting that you're older than you think. :thinks:
