I think laburnum can outshine almost any wood ..Great example you've put up Paul.

Not familiar with this timber but it appears to be one for all seasons this pen appeals to me for its competence and treatment that succeed above many cartridge pens. The extended top half is also interesting and creates design movement to changing the ordinary to be commended IMHO. Neat pen mate.

Superb looking pen, I hope to copy you soon Paul. Any hints on the dimensions of the pen parts and how you finished the cut ends of the case?

Hi Neil, I never measured the pen parts, only while I was trying to get a diameter for the bit to fit inside the casing. I'll make another tomorrow and try and do a blow by blow account. I finished the ends of the casing by sanding them. I drilled a hole in a piece of wood and spun it on the lathe with the case in it. I then just sanded the ends.

Just had another look at your pen mate and I reckon that if it were to be put a competition it would take something mighty special to beat it ..you done a wonderful job there Paul.


I'm off now to glue some shavings together.:thumbs:
