Having spent the first 25 years of my working life down the mine at Lea Hall Colliery I thought it was about time that I made a pen relating to the colliery.
The blanks were made up for me by Scott Walker from Mr Resin Blanks and show a picture of the Colliery. Encapsulated within the blanks is some actual coal dust from a lump of coal that I took from the Colliery on my last day at work there just before it closed (Thank you Maggie Thatcher)

For you Vic exceptional memories revived. Memorabilia captured this way is specific and gratifying. This is so far removed from my experience I can but wonder. My name family Hay were all miners near Edinburgh before they migrated to Australia in the 1840,s when horrific to me almost as infants they all worked underground.

Thanks for sharing this part of your experience this way using a special pen resting on that lump of coal.

Peter.

Lovely pen, great sentiment.

I think it's important that these traditions continue
to survive through actions like yours, and stay in our memories.

Well done ( good turning as well!!!)

Peter
