You might just get one out of it, especially a fountain pen as there is a little more leeway. but you could glue a piece of sacrificial wood to the bottom of the blank so that your live centre doesn't damage the blank and you can get almost the full size of the blank with very little waste. Maybe I have to make a bigger slab mould for blanks slightly larger.
