Penpal
Grand Master
I know the Orchestra is not ready until the Lady Harpist is seated and ready to perform the solo. But this is the result of many many hours of scrounging and adaptation. I went to many car wreckers etc they have experienced an unprecedented season where all old steering wheels suddenly became on the restricted list. Finally at a 4 wheel drive dingy ,delightful cave the owner arranged to locate and give me this wheel from his stash.
This same guy turned from the bloke who refused to instal my towbar on the Mercedes simply because I got it for 120.00 like new from Melbourne and the identical ones trade at 900 big bones anywhere here. Never mind it is installed and I doubt he rememnbered me.
I went back to collect it having said I would like to make him a pen,his answer no need. When I arrived to collect the wheel one of his employees in the darked office came out he could be a twin IMHO of the boss. He had a bewildered look on his face ,then we decided he had never seen me before. This after receiving the pen I made for the boss in braided fibreglass. We exchanged pleasantries me with my steering wheel and the wrong bloke with the pen.
Now in these perilous times I have been scrounging ,milling on my supersize drill mill, a three step aluminium pulley and fourteen drilled and tapped and locktighted screws etc. work it is finished, will clean up in the morning. I removed the three spoke arms happily the return spring on the drill would shame many a crossbow with its tension spring.
Typically I needed the unit that I had removed the spokes from a few times. It took me 1/2 an hour to remove them (thanks Locktite).
The camera batteries in the dark were low so I had nothing in the image to focus so I guessed the aperture etc and view the pics.
Now it is a past thing to have t6he final drilling come at the end of the downward pressure using mongrel spokes. They used to unwind in their sockets,to be truthful this drill has the sweetest longest throw anywhere so I can drill the longest of my drills without the need to extend the base. This was a wonderful time inbound at home toi enjoy designing and making a truly beaut mod for my drill press.
Peter.
