Mistral ballpoint in jet black acrylic, man that stuff is hard to work. So I had a few issues, firstly the acrylic bubbled and tore away at the thinnest part on the nib end, I had to take the nib section barrel to the disc sander and take about 3/8" off, this then meant I had to take the same off the end of the pen insert, luckily the parker style pen inserts let you take a fair amount off the plastic end with no impact to use, other than I now have to customise every ink replacement for this pen. In carrying out the fix to hide the mistake I'd made, I had also inadvertently created a slight depression in the acrylic just before the nib section, now you can call this a happy accident or me trying to wing it, but after assembling the pen I found it is so comfortable in the hand! This part of the acrylic is thinner than the thickness of the brass tube it is wrapped around, pic below, and it was a punt carrying on rather than starting over, but it worked out well because the pen sits conformably and naturally in the hand like an old leather Brooks saddle hugs the butt :-)
