Hi All,

Hope you're all well. I have a small problem with my fittings. Two pens now have had tops that don't screw on to the main pen bodies. The first one was newly made and I put it down to glue clogging up the thread and put it to one side. The second was my friends that he has had for a couple of years now and it has only just started to fail. I don't know how to repair them. Any ideas? Is it possible to separate the fitting from the barrel again?

Thanks guys, Tim.

You should be able to strip it all down to the components and fit new ones, what Kits were they? Use transfer punches to separate the top finial and then the centre band and thread. Have you managed to make carbide tool up yet?

Hi Tim, most kits are the same to strip down, but just to be sure what kits were they. To strip down the cap then put in a relevant sized Transfer punch and engage it with the edge of the cap insert and gently tap, move it to the opposite side and again gently tap, if you haven't superglued them in then it will start to give and will pop out the top. Then take a transfer punch that will just fit in the tube and tap out the centre band and thread.
