Folks

I have just received a Joyner "off-center" jig with 2MT. I need to make a draw bar using 1/4x20 threaded rod. Does anybody know the metric equivalent that I need to purchase please?

I *think* it's M6x1 but want to be sure.

Thanks!

M10 doesn't come close to 1/4 x 20

I think it is M6x1.25 if we call 1 inch 25mm and divide that by 1.25 we get 20 tpi but check it out with m6 bolts with different pitches.

1/4 x 20 is quarter inch British Standard Whitworth. That's why you can't find it by its pitch. Look for 1/4 BSW Colin.

Much better to buy the bar with the correct thread if possible or buy a die nut and make your own.

Sorry but your wrong. NC SAE. The profile is different on SAE vs BSW by a good 5deg.

This is for a drawbar on a lathe. It's not parts for a bloody NASA project. 1/4 BSW is commonly available and is 1/4 x 20. It will do the job.

Don't be silly, 1/4 x 20 is BSW if you would like to buy taps or dies you can buy them here unless you think they are lying.

Of course the 1/4 x 20 used in the jig above maybe SAE it would make sense coming from the US nothing seems to be standard just like their ounce, but it wasn't clear that it came from the US
