I actually managed to turn some pens today, the first ones since June / July ish.

A bit out of practice, (was I ever in practice?) but I certainly enjoyed myself and managed to unwind a little.

Hopefully it won't be so long next time, really have missed it.

Gorgeous pens Ed, doesn't look like you're out of practice to me! I have some Sierras on order from Timberbits and if they turn out like this I will be a happy bunny!

They look beautiful what finish have u used

Well Alex, today was a bit of a trial to be honest.

Uncle Vic, a keen woodturner, gave Cheryle and I some money as a wedding present and said to treat ourselves to something. I decided with my half I would treat myself to a mandrel saver that I've been reading so much about on the forum and some of the Hut finishes. Seemed apt really.

So this was the first time use of the mandrel saver, which I love, and they are finished with the PPP finishing sticks.

Two coats of shallack sanding sealer denibbed with the finest micromesh pad, then the brown PPP stick, then the white. I'm pleased with the finish considering how quick it is and the fact it didn't dissolve my nasal hair!

:lmao:

Love 'em !

The Eucalyptus is my favourite based purely on the photos, Mallee doesn't seem to show its beauty in photos very well I've found, which is a shame.

The Mallee is especially gorgeous, but all three pens look great.
