Made some throwing tops of varying sizes for the grand kids
They had fun and not a battery or beep in sight:winking:

A lovely job on all of them. I've never had a go or even seen a throwing top and would like to have a go to see how it works. Any tips?

Superbly turned, a great toy, just like the whipping top I made for my grandaughter, these old toys are great. Have you done any cup & balls?

For those poor souls who have stumbled across this by accident, when we talk about whipping tops and cupping balls I would like to assure that these are perfectly innocuous terms in our own odd, and often odder world......:winking::devil:

There's no way anyone should suggest that you should throw anything. Having the finesse of a charging rhino collateral damage to at least some of Somerset is a dead cert.

I showed this as an educational form of entertainment to my two boys, they could appreciate the power of the gyroscope effect, amaze people with balancing tricks and have a lot of fun. However they declined as they thought it might damage the playstation screen if they got it wrong.

Oh well, back to the shoot um up death and destruction games.
