Hi All,
It's been too quiet in my workshop, oh and a bit cold...steel containers can get that way....three fresh off the lathe today though, all Leveche fountains( no surprises there!)
One double dyed burl (PSI blank) one spalted Tamarind (Styles blank) and a Glenfidick stave (Beaufort blank) not together yet as toooo cold for Monocoat to dry quickly enough

Hi Alan, I still like melamine as my go to finish, but if I want something more sensitive/ touchy I like monocoat as it leaves a waxy finish.
I wipe it on, leave it on a paper towel to dry....3 coats, leave overnight and then assemble....so far it's proving durable...

I have used Melamine on Hybrids before without any problems, I made sure the acrylic was scratch free/ polished before putting on the Melamine.

Nice work Mark,
I know what you mean about the cold, the weather app said 2 degrees yesterday, feels like -1.
I stuck it out for about 30 minutes but couldn’t feel my fingers so retired to the house.
The Glenfiddich you’ve made is outstanding, I’m drawn to oak above all other woods for some peculiar reason.

Oak is a strange wood, it can come in many varieties, not just the sweet smelling one I have just spun...
I've some bog oak and some I bought from 'the mouse man' (Robert Thompson), ....some of more historical interest from Churches/ cathedrals...it can have some nice speckled grain or diagonally cut adds interest 🤔
