Took a break

I took a break from making the train and turned a couple of pieces which now have to go in the bin.

The first is a piece of beech and is 5" tall by 4 1/2" across

The second is Sapele which is 7 1/4" across and stand 1 1/2" tall

OH well back to the train

Maybe I am missing something but these look great why they destined for the bin?

How do you get that texture on the side ?

The first one has three little dings in it 2 on the rim and one in the side, also the lip of the hole has a small split in it. All my fault I was buffing it and did not have a good grip on it and it went for flying lessons.
The second one would not take a finish in the middle and has a faint patchy look to it when it is held to the light

The texturing was done using the Robert Sorby texturing and spiralling tool and the skew chisel to make the lines.

Well if they are rubbish I may as well pack up now, cos they are better than most of my stuff

Bah your just being ultra modern it's called a destressed look. You get a good piece of furniture make it look old and worn in then charge more it's all the rage apparently.
