I have a triple lead tap and die set in 12x0.8 that I have been using. I have decided they are to small for my liking. I am considering buying another set what are you Guys views what would you go for 13x0.8 or 14x0.8 and why. I am wanting to make a slightly larger pen using a size 6 nib.

I use M13 x 0.8 x 3 for about 90% of my pens. I find it works very well with both #5 and #6 nibs.

If a client requests a pen with larger diameter than I usually make, I'll use M 14 x 0.8 x 3 - but that's rare. I just once had a client who specifically requested 12mm cap threads - a regular customer, I couldn't say no even though I felt the #6 nib looked out of proportion with that narrow section and barrel.

For me I found m13 just about ideal for the #6 nibs and m14 best for #8 nibs.

Yes 13mm is a good size that will fit most hands. I always recommend people start with this for no5 and no6 nibs. You can squeeze a no8 nib in but the section walls do end up on the thin side. Not that that’s an issue really.
