Hi, can anyone tell me if Turners Workshop is still functioning? I sent them an order for an item in stock and have had no acknowledgement and when I tried to phone them I am told that this number is not available. Any ideas?

I haven't bought anything from him for ages since mothballing my workshop. I can't get on his website but his Facebook page is still live. He may have server problems, or he may be on holiday. I think he's a one man band, and I believe he works elsewhere as well. It is unusual to get no contact. Hopefully he'll be in touch or send your order out soon.

unless anything has happened in the last 24 hours I would say yes he is still going.

He still has stuff on e bay so would say it's a matter of what Ray says, he does work as well..

The internet link/address to his site failed about 10 days ago and doesn't seem to be connecting currently .

Yes Vince is still there I just emailed him tonight, he's on nigtshift, send him an email and give him a chance to get a bit of sleep. Apparently his webmaster has gone on holiday so there may be a couple of hitches, if its really desperate leave a message on the mobile number on his website.

PG

PS I owe him for a delivery so he won't be going far

PPS the internet link to his site is intermittent, it worked earlier on but isn't now, I get the impression that his internet guru has let him down.

Well, his site is definitely still down. The other day when I tried to view it I got a screen saying it was being worked on and would be back soon. Today I just get an error message, so I'm with Pierre - I'm guessing that maybe Vince's techies or ISP have let him down.

Welcome to the Forum by the way Raymond.

The experiences involved in buying by the net can have mixed blessings. In this case it seems a perfectly good reason for delays. My experience this week is fabulous with the goods sent to me before I was able to pay direct into a bank account, this I feel is an ideal way to pay.

it is not ideal from the retailers perspective though- if that was the norm, there would be a large number of people who never paid.

The other experience I had was I was sent a valuable item from the USA by a guy he paid the freight with the message check it out and if you do not like it send it back no charge. I kept it and broke all records getting the money to him. So many times I have paid up front for dubious rubbish received it is a real pleasure to be trusted. The present experience I was asked what size blanks I asked for 1 inch squared by 6 inches (no extra charge).

Yes I do not advocate anyone goes down on any deal just real pleasant when it works out. I bought 140 blanks from Kentucky people on an other forum ridiculed the new guy on the block, he was a real beaut bloke, everyone said your too cheap to him etc.Turned out he had this huge timber business, blanks were from his bulk purchases of sticker timber from exotic countries.

Long live honesty may it flourish.

Peter.

I was at Vince's on Monday & he is still going strong. His website is down & the guy who looks after it is still on holiday. If you want anything I would suggest sending an email or messenger to contact him.

Since I started this thread, I have to say that I hope all comes out well for Turners Workshop. The item I ordered has finally arrived and is in fine condition. It is not easy to run a fine business and have to work as well, but Vince is obviously doing his best and managing to deliver what he promised.

I hope very much that Turners Workshop goes on to become one of our best sources fo penturning. Good luck Vince.

Vince has been around for a long time Ray, longer than most in the UK so well established and works very hard to give great service. He's also a genuine and really nice guy. If you ever manage to visit the North East and could call in you would be amazed at the range of materials he keeps in stock.

I can only echo what Bob has said above. I've met Vince a few times now and he's always very accommodating and ready with the kettle!

Vince has been going for 20 years & always gives excellent service. If you do go take your credit card, it's like an Aladdin's cave. Like the pick & mix sweets you'll buy far more than you intend.:funny:
