Hi Alan, no it's spalting...Mark,
Is that a crack down the far side?
I'm surprised, Mark, as I thought that the blank was quite a light colour, and was not aware of any spalting.Hi Alan, no it's spalting...
It turned really nice and I have given it a couple of coats of Rubio, a very surprising timber
I got it in a box from Australia. It is a member of the Acacia family and fairly common there. ( Acacia pycnantha )Mine was a gift so not sure
Mark, I had a look at the photographs that you posted of the blanks that I sent, to check out what the Golden Wattle looked like. You sent the wrong bit mate
No mate, just a clear coat.... Although it did darken slightly when I applied it, like wood does when you wet it, it's probably my poor photography not helping eitherMark, I had a look at the photographs that you posted of the blanks that I sent, to check out what the Golden Wattle looked like.
It looks quite light in colour. Have you tinted it?
I have another one of those blanks which looks the same as yours, as well as a couple of stabilised golden wattle. No mate, just a clear coat.... Although it did darken slightly when I applied it, like wood does when you wet it, it's probably my poor photography not helping either
