Agree it's a nice wood to turn and finishes well.Hairy oak would be my preferred choice, especially for it's colour and grain.
Yes Peter I like to play about with shapes and wood. I've been turning for about 14 years and never get tired of experimenting. Thank you again for your comments.I see you are indeed enjoying trial shapes and timbers ,Hairy Oak is an all time favourite of mine.PS a light sanding will remove the hairiness at the joins,kind regards Mike.
