No it was to thin because of the chucking recess

I would say first sanding sealer then spray lacquer John and the only stupid question is the one you don't ask

I got two packs of them but the only wood I had for these is to thin to take the glass holders but I have some others I want to make that I can use them on

I think I'll sell candles for charity Woody. A job well done Sir.
I'm not gonna nick your idea but when I make some I'll mount mine on a screw chuck with a 50mm dia. collar to keep it running true, then I can use the middle for a tee light.
