Two Tempest. Olive wood & Maple burr.

Hi All,

Big shout out to our leader Phil. :-))
After watching my last video of the pen kit failure Phil got in touch and said he would send me a Tempest. He ended up sending two. It was a very generous offer and big thanks to him for his kindness.

I had a couple of catches as the Olive wood was unpredictable, but it looks amazing.
The Tempest pen kits are great, very high quality.

I will be sending the kits off next week to Laura at Help for Heroes fundraising.
I hope they can get a few quid for the charity.

All class Paul,at the separation there was no apparent glue to be seen on the brass. From start to finish lovely choices and I agree doing half pens only forever now it is the way to go. Early days visiting experts from the US less than impressed me by using their fingers to press against the blanks during turning to lesson the inevitable whip using the whole of the mandrel.

Your efforts for charity I admire mate. Concluding the efforts were well rewarded, reminded me I have a few log pieces of Olive I rescued on a street corner I must cut up,years dry now. Great pens as to be expected from diligence to detail you give them.

Your from time to time vids enable me to visit with you,a real pleasure mate.

Hi Peter,

Many thanks for your kind words mate.

It did seem to have a lack of glue. I think the wood sucked most of it in plus not having enough on the tube.
I might start using slow cure epoxy and start making the blanks ahead of time.
