This blank came from the batch I bought recently, it had no name on it but was my first choice for turning into a pen due to it's striking colour contrasts, shown here on a chrome Jr Gents rollerball.

Very nice Doug, I have a piece of rosewood with sap wood that looks just like that. But also agree it could be cocobolo.

Very nice pen and blank no matter what it is..

I'm not sure what it is either Doug, but its a lovely piece of wood and you've done it justice there.

You're both right Eamonn, ciocobolo is a rosewood, dalbergia retusa to be precise,

Thanks for the comments, to be honest it was just good to be back at the lathe if only for a short while, I also managed a Euro in Palmwood which was a new wood to me, it certainly is a striking timber as well, hope to post a picture of it up later.
