.

This is one I turned yesturday from a blank I got from a block of timber from Yandles at their open day for 60p.

Not sure what it is but its hard to turn and has a weird almost medicinal smell to it. Pretty though.

Have tried to take a photo of the other one I made with a blackwood centre band for Brody but it never seem to come out right. I'll try again tomorrow when I've got a bit more time.......an patients!

Well I think you're all wrong.

It was hard to turn. (Camphor is only 550Kg/m3) Was it waxy/oily?

I've got some cocobolo like this, and before you say its not cocobolo based on the smell, it can vary tremendously.

Was it heavy or light Ed?

It was quite light Neil and appeared to be reasonably dry (as in not oily) but running the bevel of the skew over it, it darkened significantly and gave an almosted waxed finish?

If you want a closer look Neil, PM me your address and I'll gladly send some up for your perusal.
