Not done much turning as making wooden models Now they are finished I can get back to turning a little more.

This was just a case of having a play with a new tool for hollowing and at the same time I thought I would add some very subtle twists to the piece. Made with Yew and stands 6" and 3 1/2" at the widest.

Nice shape and the grooves look nice, were they done free hand? Strange colour but I think that’s just the photo. What did you use for hollowing, I know you’re not a fan of carbide?

I hand carved the grooves after marking out.

I gave in and brought a Simon Hope tool this was the first go at using it I found it not much different to the other standard tools that I would use so the verdict is still out on them
