Actually got the finish correct with this pen I followed Phil Dart Melamine tutorial and it worked out OK.

Downside with this pen is that white glue is showing between the layers, this appeared whilst turning and I do not know how to get rid/hide it.

Got the blank from Mark flexi Cheers mate

I think the stripes look alright on the bullet rocket kit.

Box purchased from Eamonn silver Cheers mate

Red and Black Veneer

Rocket Bullet Pen

Finish:- Sanding Sealer, Melamine, Carnauba Stick

2 hours 20 minutes

Your on a roll mate...
Another lovely pen...
I presume the white lines are on the grey veneers, it's just laminate lines, some dyes penetrate deeper than others and some can show glue lines. I keep the blank cool when sanding and apply a 'secret' :wink:oil prior to melamine finish, it darkens the wood and its less noticeable.... :whistling:
You can only tell once turned:rolling:

You are getting good at this pen turning lark, Gary.

On the 3rd picture down it looks like one of the black strips are missing, or is it just the photograph?
It looks like the place for the clip.

Anyway, well done and I like Eamonn's box.

I can answer that one Alan.... Because its plywood, you see the layers from the side, that pic shows the top of the blank, but as its on a small radius it gets confusing as the sides get cutaway:pray::pray:

This looks like spectraply. Cousineau wood products (cwp-usa.com) sells a huge line of plywood. You can get 1/2x9x40 up to 3x9x40. The sheets aren't cheap & shipping is expensive. They are really heavy. During the Christmas season they sell assortment boxes of blanks.

Whenever I turn spectraply I always stabilize them first. I just like how easy it makes plywood to turn.
