Here's a vertex pencil. Takes a 2mm lead and is one of the most reliable clutch/propelling pencils that I have come across and the only one I sell. The top unscrews to reveal a small rubber which you can get replacements for, but the rubber is about as much good as the proverbial chocolate tea pot. The rubber pulls out to reveal a small sharpener, which is ok. The kit, as with all vertex pens is of good construction, good plating and makes a robust instrument. Not too difficult to drill as it is less than the 80mm which is the max on some pillar drills but regardless will present no problems for lathe drillers amongst us.

Its cocobolo with three coats of CA, micromeshed to 12000 and chestnut burnishing cream. A commission for an artist for the forthcoming show at the weekend in Lincolnshire (after the Devon County Show this week!)

Thanks Neil, its good to see there is a good pencil out there apart from the workbox pencil which is good but has a lead of 6mm (I think)

Now that is the mutts nuts, I love these Vertex kits as far as kits go and I don't never seen or done the pencil afore.
I got no need for the rubber, got Drain pasteurized many years ago but some could use em I spose.
Don't big Jim do em instead of of going across the puddle?

That's a cracker although I have never been asked for a pencil apart from a workshop one. I am sure I could sell that.

I do like those kits, Dan, Dan, can you get hold of some.

I used to do the slimline pencils but stopped due to the mechanism being fragile. I'd probably make these though depending on price.

I've done a few of the pens but hadn't seen a pencil.

The mechanism is similar to the stratus kit. Are the interchangeable?

Neil I have bent for these Vertex Pens having now seen your delightful pencil I agree it looks first class and the lead thickness appeals to me as well. This pencil has given me many design thoughts thank you.

Love this pencil, and the kit .. Pity we can't get this closer from home .. I also like that this kit uses a 2mm lead, much better than the 0.7 ..
