Very first pen and 3rd time turning over all. Had my lathe two weeks. I got my Carbides caught a few times which I'll put down to user error so it isn't perfect but I'm super chuffed with it! Used a CA glue to cover some tear out in the acrylic, polished with autosol and brasso (had them lying around).

Thanks @alan morrison 🙂 I'm fair chuffed for my first go. Next time I'll up my lathe speed too and see if it helps with cutting catching. I'll also take a bit more off near the bushing as suggested.

1 down... A few hundred more to come😁😁
Always keep your first, in six months time you'll see your progression or at least know where all your moneys gone...
As above👆 full speed ahead, both timber and acrylic, a little closer to the bushes will give a better shape and appearance. I also paint the inside of the drilled hole a matching colour, normal acrylic paint on a Q tip it will hide the brass tube.... I know someone who has a nice collection of nail varnish, he says it's for penturning 😜😜

Thanks @alpha1 I definitely think I'll benefit from going faster. I drilled and glued lots of blanks so plenty to play with 😅.

😂 I'm sure my wife has nail varnish lying around @flexi

I'm very stocked up on acrylic 😂
