Very first pen and 3rd time turning over all. Had my lathe two weeks. I got my Carbides caught a few times which I'll put down to user error so it isn't perfect but I'm super chuffed with it! Used a CA glue to cover some tear out in the acrylic, polished with autosol and brasso (had them lying around).

I'm fair chuffed for my first go. Next time I'll up my lathe speed too and see if it helps with cutting catching. I'll also take a bit more off near the bushing as suggested.

I rarely turn acrylic but when turning timber it's with full revs.
Good speed and sharp tools all the way.

When turning resin blanks I run my lathe at full speed and take light cuts.
1 down... A few hundred more to come
Always keep your first, in six months time you'll see your progression or at least know where all your moneys gone...

full speed ahead, both timber and acrylic, a little closer to the bushes will give a better shape and appearance. I also paint the inside of the drilled hole a matching colour, normal acrylic paint on a Q tip it will hide the brass tube.... I know someone who has a nice collection of nail varnish, he says it's for penturning
