Not much spinney stuff going on at the minute but have been making a couple of tools.

1. Brass and steel marking gauge.
2. Ally and brass router using an old Allen key for a blade.
3. Steel scraper plane loose copy of a Stanley No.12, blade cut from an old circular saw blade.

I'm pleased that in my usual tight fisted manner these cost nothing to make as all came from my stash of treasures which the missus calls junk.

New to me Alan I just wanted to see if I could do it.
They would all be better if I was making them again as I learned as I went along, probably my biggest regret was the plane as I only has 3mm sheet steel but still decided to dovetail the base to the sides, how hard could it be? simple enough in wood. Big mistake, peening the joints was a nightmare, the rest was straightforward though, brass and alloy for the knobs turned and knurled on the wood lathe and everything was cut and shaped using hacksaw and files apart from the blade out of the saw blade.
I think that's my metalworks done for a while now.

I have a Veritas marking gauge it's surprising how often it's used..... Great job on yours.... I like the router too very clever idea with the Allen key, they say nesesity is the mother of invention.... Well done

That's exactly what it is John and surprising how often they come in useful, they are very simple to make in wood and proper cutters can be bought for about £15, plenty of ideas on the internet. The scraper plane is because although I own a smaller Record 080 which I use I lusted after the Stanley 12 but they fetch well over £100 s/h and I'm too miserable to pay that.
