The first piece completed in 2020. Felt good to be able to start again in the shed after the festive break. I just needed something simple to start the year.

Hollow form from spalted walnut. Quite punky in places but managed to stabilise. Decided to add a lid and final. I think it could be displayed with or without top.
C & C welcome

Thank you Woody, Bill and Alan

I did forget the size it is 6 1/2" diameter and 8 1/2" tall.

That's lovely, Derek. I've not seen spalted walnut like that before. Great piece of timber.
Alan

Still have quite a few more to work through it was a large trunk that I was given some may be too far gone but will have to see when I turn them

Derek, that is stunning. I am no artist and I don't really have any artistic flare, so my work tends to be on the plain and simple side and, for the time being, I am quite happy with that. One day I will make something like this and I would be very proud of it.

Well done and you say that's simple!! That finial is outstanding.

Cheers

The finial is made up of bits that I made and did not look right on the piece they were originally made for I keep a bag of them. Nothing wrong with them just they did not suit the piece at the time but for this one, it was a match I thought was a good one.

That is stunning Derek, you didnt forget anything over the Christmas brake.:thumbs:

After Christmas, I found it in the middle of the accelerator and clutch peddle :funny::funny::funny:

Congratulations on the WOW cover Derek!

Thank you Neil it is always nice to be selected
