Have they opened it to the UK, yet? They may do if they can't get enough state side.

That is a "group buy research" David.

Been watching it for a while as it started in group buys but I'm not sure they will open it to this side of the pond if they ever turn it in to a group buy at all.

I have a 14 triple that I had through a GB last time as I had a specific commission to do. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered as they are pricey landed in the UK.

They may open it up to us if it means they can go ahead with it. I was interested in skiprat's double start suggestion.

Yep, Steven has some really good ideas and is a master at turning pens, superb.

Used a few of his techniques and came out really well.

I'd be interested if a few of us got a group buy from them and they shipped them over here all together, if that would save the hundreds in customs.

I don't see how that would save the hundreds in customs, if it is less than £135 then vat won't come into it, otherwise it will. The best chance of getting a low charge would be if they would shove it in a Jiffy bag and post it, but the yanks don't seem to be able to do that, it all has to go through UPS.

Ah, sorry, I took it too literally, but it would help if they did stick it in a jiffy and said it was a gift.

Oh yes for sure and would entice me to use the States more often.

I seem to remember this has all been spoke about and tried before.
I am sure Eamonn will remember it too, Trapper set up an English company to manufacture some.
I dunno what ever became of it but you may well find they are still stuck with a quantity of them.
If they ever got produced in the first place that is, English quality would be better and without the taxes you speak so fondly of.
Try looking on your doorstep before trusting the yanks init?

But then it would be against the law for them and for you. As the importer you have to ensure that it's imported correctly and the right taxes are paid.. :winking: right..

Yes, I know that, but everyone and his dog does it, except the yanks of course, actually that is not quite true, the guy on ebay who sells carbide tips does put it in a jiffy bag, he doesn't say it is a gift, but it also doesn't cost $30-$60 Freight charge, less than a fiver if IRC.

I would be more than happy to look at local suppliers - does anyone know a local engineering shop that would make good quality taps and dies?
