I treated myself to a nice granite surface plate and thought I would order some hacksaw blades. Both arrived very prompt and in great condition but packing has a lot to be desired the granite plate was in a box in another box with room to spare in the outer box for the packing and the blades. But instead of that the blades were sent in this box with some leaflets, what you see is minus the packing which filled the rest of the box up.

Thank you for the link. I also will be making a box to keep it in and also put three pads on the bottom the same as my small cast plate which lives in my engineers' tool box.
Also treated myself to a mag base(my old one the magnet is getting a little week) and auto centre punches from a different supplier

On a roll Derek I sensed a while back you minded my giving gender to one of your pens but as usual for me inspiration follows. Ships are generally female as well unlike pens that show by colour and design. Happy days mate.

I'm pretty sure those instructions are for large surface tables where heat or cooling would be uneven across the table. It wouldn't be an issue in your sweatbox of a shop unless you are working to 3 decimal places. If you were you would have a conditioned inspection room. 
Your biggest problem will be the sweat off your brow dripping on the table making it sticky.
