I noticed a lot were set at 5 O'clock, is that beer O'clock?

Well I have to put a time on them, so 5 O'clock seemed a time everyone can relate to .. ie .. Going Home Time or as you say Beer O'clock.

Plus it mean I only have to shape the small hand :winking:

Dedication there Brad. Are they all sold?

Dave

The purple one is an order, only taken him 8 months to tell me the time he wanted. His nieces birth time.

The rest are for myself to sell once I put a kit on them and upgrade the nibs.

I have sold the blanks before but to be honest there are only a few people out there willing to pay the price, well in this country anyway.

The time involved means a high price.
Decorating the tube, taking the watch apart, shaping the dial and attaching hands. Every cog has to have the spindle knocked out then they have to be shaped and attached to the tube. Sorting through to get the right pieces. Then they have to be cast in PR, I use PR because of the crystal clear finish. So there's a lot of work involved.

Curious what you would think they are worth, or what you would pay ?. Say a one piece blank would be how much ? and a two piece would be ?

If you look at advertising pictures for clocks and watches you'll find that they are almost always set to 10 past 10. Advertising people know what they are doing. 10 past 10 smiles at you.

But does it mean anything to anyone .....

No, there's no meaning implied. It's purely aesthetic. Symmetrical and smiling makes it pleasing to look at and, for a manufacturer, it has the added advantage of not obscuring the maker's logo.

How do you bend the parts to curve round the tubes? I imagine they are quite stiff. Hammer then on a little anvil maybe or do you have some sort of press?
