There is a resemblance but totally different tree to look at probably Oak by common name not botanically linked.

Allocasuarina Luehmaina Bull Oak.

Allocasuarina Inophloia Hairy Oak so they are related it is possible but I can not confirm it that the Bull Oak you use over there derives from over here at one time like the Eucalypts:thumbs::thumbs:?

I wish you would stop posting photos of all these Ozzie blanks. Makes me regret not calling in last year with my empty suitcase :sob::sob::funny:

Talking about Mahogany to Jim and he remarked there seems to be blanks in so many places sad but true these were some not sorted to the blank room and being Aussie I thought I would give everyone a sample of the names the timber reveals itself when turned I must say there are some smashing blanks in there.

From a Pen Rest themed Dental etc the Hairy Oak cut across went translucent for the front of this pen it has magic in it this timber can look like shot silk it is harder than to drill easy to burn a drill. Isolated the pen.
