Nicely turned and finished
But I agree with Brian and Paul a Wedding pen should be a quality kit such as a Roman Harvest

Shouldnt it be a fountain pen as you will need the Registrar ink to be able to sign the register?
Or did I miss something?

Nope you didn't miss anything Phil.
1. The pen has to be brand new and unused
2. The pen has to be seen by the registrar(physically seen, not a photo)
3. The pen has to be a fountain pen with a convertor, so the registrar can put their own permanent ink in it.

And depending on the registrars office they may still say "No, but you can use it for the photos"

Thanks for that information you are right.
I have been informed that registers are signed with special ink but in some cases the actual photo taken is after the register has been signed and the pen as been swapped.
Another comment I have received that these sort off pens are used for the signing of guest books, in fact the pen shown is going to be used for just that at a Golden Wedding.

In which case at least ensure a Beaufort refill in it, the last Sierra I used in the postroom only a coupe of weeks ago, signed 3 names and ran out of ink with the standard refill.
I changed it for a gel refill and kept it for myself, it's far too good for them plebs init?
I really would consider a better pen and show off your skills, at least a rollerball with a Beaufort refill and be sure to leave some business cards in close proximity.

I never realised that there were any special regulations at all for wedding pens. how wrong I was!

Yep, looks good for what you plan for. Top marks and looks really nice.

I have usually have an engraved plate on the top of the boxes just as an extra special bit for them to appreciate and remember what it was for as well.

If you do go down the wedding pen route make sure that you let the bride and groom know that if they don't clean the nib and assembly out

If they don't the next time they pick it up out of the box it will be a rusted wreck.. The registrar ink is corrosive...

Man the lengths Registrars go to be tough over your way guys. I have been out of the photography for weddings for some time now witnessed countless signings also I am aware of the confusions that arise at all weddings not surprised if pens get back to the right people on that day or not. A wedding gift of Pens is perfectly proper if no strings are attached such as you could use them to sign the register committing the pens to memorabilia rather than everyday memories for continueing use.So many weddings over here are held in parks public areas not under the control of a wedding consultant very ad hock so many times accompanied by the new couples children prompts me to suggest pens as wedding presents to be opened with the microwave or vases whatever. I used to be on an ego trip and say these would be beaut to use at the signing. As a photographer pen maker the impact when then the wedding party borrowed my pen was considerable.Heaps of sales followed.

Lucky you who gives pens as wedding presents it used to be will you photograph my wedding to me? Cheapskates abound new friends around every corner. Selling pens for weddings should be accompanied with the directions for use if special regs exist maybe.seems like its a revelation every time its raised on the forum.

Peter.

Peter, I couldn't put it better. Why do people assume A Wedding Pen is for signing the register, its a gift just like any other gift for a keep sake and memories. We give horse shoes at weddings but no one says they must be fitted to a horse. Perhaps when we give/sell pens we should say not to open till after the wedding or forget the wedding pen and say Special Occasion Pens.
