It's not weird Jim it's something that can be put away until such time when the child can appreciate it.
I myself have made two pens for my daughters, one is 5 and the other one is 3. I plan to give them on the day they start secondary school, just do it.

Maybe better for the mother, Jim, so she could keep a journal (you could also supply,) about the growth of the child over the years. You know perhaps birthdays, first day at school and so on.

No, I have made pens as christening gifts so I don't see a problem, in fact it's a great idea.

With our six children we maintained a special book first this that pics galore for the first 8 yrs when they left home we gave them their book it could also include the pen used.

Not at all Jim, we can make a pen for every occasion christenings, birthdays, wedding anniversaries (wood pen for 5th) Bar Mitzvahs etc :thinks::thinks:

I don't think it is weird, a pen can and should be made for any occasion .. :winking:

Made a pen from three knurled brass darts in slim fashion for a darts fiend look for the families main passion and think outside the norm, nmake a pen for the mum in loops attached to a book of family pics eg.
