After a weeks fishing in Lincolnshire,on the way home I stopped off at Emmerson timber,we've been there before and Dave is a great guy,the woods he gets are mainly English but he also stocks some exotics, his collection of wood is staggering.

Dave saves the wood he thinks is too good to use as firewood and sells it as woodturning timber,he gets some excellent stuff too.

Most of the wood I got is destined for knives, although I'll be cutting some of it up for pen blanks, the long rod of london plane/lacewood is 1 inch square,I plan to cut it in half and then cut one half into 1/2 inch lengths for pen blanks.

Here's what I ended up coming away with, a fruit box full,as well as half of a laburnum log, which is drying in the garage

A mixture of walnut,rippled sycamore,burr elm,striped maple and yew.

As well as these bits of laburnum which have had the end grain sealed in candle wax,no regular ones so had to use scented but at least the workshop smells nice :whistling:

For anyone who doesn't have a source of lumber and has to buy it,I'd highly recommend emmerson timbers, their pricing is cheap and their shipping is free D Emmerson Timber Woodturning Timber Firewood

Thanks for the info Matty, I had never heard of them but I will be arranging a visit in the very near future :thinks::thinks:

The timber you have shown looks pretty good, especially that laburnum, I had some of Neil Lawton last year lovely stuff must get some more :thumbs:
