Hi,
I was watching a YouTube video and noticed this tailstock chuck, or whatever it is being used. Could somebody tell me what it is please?

I think you willfind it is a revolving centre for making lace bobbins they normally come in a set for head and tailstock with a square hole in them to hold the bobbin blank without having to put a lot of pressure on thin bits of wood

It looks like that sort of thing dad.
I see no jaws to make it a chuck or means of tightening jaws.
There are many different shapes and sizes of chucks and tailstock, I have made a lot of different ones in my shed for specific uses.
My guess is the same a s dad's or some sort of mandrel saver, good luck sorry I can't help more.
Interested to see the answer if it differs?

I've found out what it is, thanks to the suggestions

It's a hollow cone live tailstock. Axminster include it in a set of 6 bits which come with a type of chuck. The reviews give the set a wow feedback. As they are mainly for small work, which I do, I've ordered a set so should be here tomorrow

I've spent approximately 4 times the cost of the lathe on accessories.....who said this was cheap, this wood shavings lark???

:sob:

It arrived today and I'm most happy with it

Apart from the case, it's identical to the Sorby system Jim, another 6 strings to my bow hopefully :winking:

The Sorby and Axminster are good systems but this is, in my opinion, the dogs bo££*ks in terms of quality.

Yes I know it's a silly price and there are no UK suppliers I can find and I know Brian will think it is an outrageous waste of money so don't bother telling me. I still think it is good value because it will still be going long after I am not. :ave_it:

I like it this clean and well kept total difference also easy to convert for other purposes. Now the acid test go forth and price precision revolving centres. Not so dear now is it.
