I used Axminsters medium CA glue Titebond Instant Glues | Axminster Tools BUT I allowed 3 days to cure, its the 2nd from top and is a chunk of aluminium angle section.
PS dont forget to use coarse sandpaper to create a key-way surface, or steal the missus' emery boards they work well.

I found Everbuild stick2 HV super glue (blue label) the best on all my metal to wood bonded surfaces and reasonably cheap and the red label for filling in cracks. I have used others, but I found that some were useless in bonding. Your Axminster's glue sounds to be a good bonding glue.

Aradite an epoxy glue.
Either a good quality Ca glue or 2 Part Epoxy. Just remember as Pierre stated to give the metal a key for the glue to stick well as well as making sure it is grease/oil free by giving it a clean with acetone/the wife's nail remover

I dunno, between losing the emery boards and the nail varnish remover its no wonder the nail bars are complaining!! Its got nothing to do with coronavirus
On a serious note I did find that even though ca glues tell you 'fast acting/15 mins etc' its a lie; super glue takes longer than 2 part epoxies to cure and 3 days seems to be a good rule of thumb, 2 part epoxy is good (but again a decent cure is between 24 hours and 2 days) and because it's thicker it seems to me to leave a thicker glue line between the 2 materials which is why I no longer use it on mixed wood fine assemblies like veneer banding etc.
