What wood is this

Need help on identifying this wood, I started to turn this bowl today, just thought it was Mahogany now i'am not so sure so can anyone tell me for sure what it is and would it be ok for a Salad bowl?

Looks like oak but if you could get a closer picture of the end grain....

One thing for sure, tree wood of some sort.

I could not help but see a strong resemblance to Merbeau we see a lot of it, if it is its a heavy timber and I have seen beautiful furniture made from it.

It looks like Oak to me, but it could possibly be Chestnut also.
