A penturners Which? Guide to fountain pen kits, not the worst but the best on two counts,
1) Overall looks
2) Ease of assembly

Might inspire us to make a few that we have previously not done?? Post the worst else where - might do that next week? Post away!

ATRAX

Looks good, modern, no plastic thread for the cap, quality kit

Very easy to assembly but you must ensure that you get the dims of the turned barrel spot on otherwise it can be a dogs dinner.

Never made one Neil but just had a quick google and it looks good, I'll try in future. I tend to stick with Baron - never let me down yet and a good price from Timberbits

I believe the ones i have made are: Roman Harvest, Baron, JR Gentlemen's and a Gentlemen's, the latter being the best by far regarding quality, but it is a big pen ... :winking:

Omega, Zeta, Epsilon... I love the quality and find it difficult to move to anything else... of course the good trusty slimline and streamline as well.

Still like the Atrax, but its not a good seller and is intolerant of variations in the dimensions of the turned blanks so you have to be bloody careful. Omega has crept up the charts and is residing at No 1 of the middle end pen kits with a good quality JR Gents kit being my best seller by a country mile.

However, this is about to be surpassed by a new favourite, the Alpha Pen, particularly in Arizona Ironwood Burr!

Having used a JR II kit from CSUSA for the first time last weekend, i will put this at the top for quality build, but for style the Omega will take some beating ..

I simply love the Emporer fountain pen, quite a large pen but you certainly know you have got it..

Still stands for me.

Not the everyday pen if that was the case then I would go a long with Jim and say JR Gent II from CSUSA as a close second.

The Omega being a nice looking simple pen for second place.. ops, third place..:goesred:

Another one for the mix....jnr Gent from Dayacom (jnr Aaron) all the benefits of a mid size pen with a full size #6 nib and not too much bling:thumbs:

I only have very limited knowledge but the Roman Harvest ones are the best I have done but when I was at Eamonn's at the weekend he shown me the Emperor Kits that he does and they are something else.
