Where do you get your sandpaper from, i am looking for a good supplier.
some very useful links there. I will be at Axminster on Sunday so will look at what they have. I am just making a sanding tool that revolves and take the round sanding disks.
I wish I had of known about it before!!For a few pound more than the Axminster one I would buy the Simon Hope system I have it and it is great
You are braver than I am or perhaps I'm just lazy, I use this Axminster Deluxe Bowl Sanding Kit - Woodturning Abrasives - Abrasives - Abrasives, Cleaners & Finishing | Axminster Tools & Machinery because the kids got it for one of my birthdays, with a couple of extra heads I can set up a selection of grits and then just swap the heads then I don't have to fiddle around looking for the right piece of sand paper.

PS I cut the mirka to shape for the sanding heads
First thing I did with mine years ago was make a disk cutter from pipe, graduated to a 50 mm punch then using a plastic cutting board under, on the anvil cut my own disks. My pro turner mate has used thousands of his cut papers this way, uses velcro to sit them on the lathe. How does Mirka paper goI thought the thinness of the paper would wear out the gripping power real quick. Five packs of that paper and cut it into strips the fluffy back easier on the hands but with the thousands of holes that go through the the backing and paper the velcro grab on the disk carrier scrubs out.
