Which Glue

Having done plenty of segmenting using Medium CA on wood to wood/aluminium over the years with only the odd issue, i did a sample yesterday trying to stick veneer to Aluminium with the same CA, it wasn't having any .. I finally got it to stick after clamping it together in the vice .. Now i am not sure that this will hold when either drilling or turning and foresee a blowout .. Could anyone recommend a glue that will do the job but not leave wide witness marks between the segmenting ..

You could take a look a Permabomd toughened acrylics Jim - glue online.co.uk around twice the price of araldite but these are industrial glues that don't generally let go - don't ask me how I know that - I haven't used them for some time but I don't use aluminium anymore because of the problem you describe but they might be the ticket

I haven't used it, but from what I have read, Gorilla glue sounds like it will cope.

Might be worth doing a few different glue types on scrap pieces Jim epoxy, gorilla dont no how contact adhsive would hold but if its worth a go on scrap
also i am sure you will but give the ally a good rub with sandpaper to give a bit of a key

I only ever use thin CA especially with thin veneer but always clamp over night. I tried medium and thick but have never liked the results

I would use white Gorilla glue. It was made to glue dis-similar materials. This is from Wikipedia. Original is the most versatile and will work on wood, stone, foam, metal, ceramic, glass and other materials. It is also available in white. Wood dries naturally as the wood color, leaves no foam and works on any type of wood. Super is a fast drying glue. Gel Super is a no-dripping variety.

I'm not sure what you need but I can say zap epoxy is no good for me on segmented work like this. Always fails while drilling

Take a guess
The last lot I did I used heat resistant Epoxy that I bought from Harrogate, you still have to take it steady drilling as its only resistant & not heat proof.
I've had a few fails with both epoxy & CA, I tend these days to degrease with meths after a light sanding to provide a key.
