Today I finished staining the various bits and pieces for Wiseman_2 and it's beginning to look ok.
My problem now is varnish each piece before assembly, or, assemble the front and the back pieces and then varnish ??
Any thoughts ??

Assembled ,leant almost vertical, sprayed lightly then laid on a smaller platform straight away. This works best for my Burl pen rests they have the exposed dimples all over.

That's a very well machined piece Donald, or should I say pieces. I would go with what the other wise men say, assemble, then
Varnish or lacquer. Lovely work.:love_it:

Are the front and back already sub assemblies if so then varnish with tape covering the back of each assembly to allow for a good glueing surface, once dry glue front to back and then give a final varnish.

Forgot to add great job

Not yet Derek. Just given the individual pieces a coat of stain.

I will assemble and varnish the two halves. Sand both mating faces and glue together. Sand the base and apply felt. Blend parts that need blending.
I think that will be ok
Thanks for the comments Chaps.
