Hi does anyone know where I can get a 25mm diameter wood drill with at least 100 mm depth? In UK or France.

I'm looking for a drill as opposed to an auger or flat spade drill and a forstner bit on an extension would wobble too much.

Thanks Silver, I tried one of those but they are designed to pull themselves into the wood and so go too fast for my needs, that long Forstner bit looks like what I want, I just need to make sure that the length of 150mm is the useable length and not including the drill holding shank because I shall be drilling on the lathe.

erm no. probably from an automatic aversion to damaging my tools.... But I might try that :goesred:

Rather than taking the tip off altogether take the thread off the tip rather than the tip completely off.

That's what I meant to say rather than the whole tip grinding off.. works like a flat bit then.

OK everyone I've got it and I have settled for the long Planet forstner bit at The Toolpost, since the nice chap on the phone said he had 3 and he measured the depth (120mm) and next week I am going to be driving past him on the way to see one of the grandsons in Bolton.

As for 'Strine bits' well you are too expensive and too far away!! on the other hand I have tons of corks for your hats going cheap:winking:
