The Collet should open when you depress the cap, and close around the lead when you release the cap. Just don't have it pointed downwards or the lead will slide out before you let go of the cap

hope that helps

Hi Paul
The screw in collet holder has to be pressed into the tube with the spring on it, Make sure it's the right way around
( pencil mechanism (silver tube) has a divot and one end is longer . On the short end slide on the spring spacer, and spring. Slide the collet through the tip and press the collet into place. You are now done )

Dont think that we have addressed the problem here folks!

Firstly go get one nail that just fits nicely inside the collet and tube of the pencil and cut it on hacksaw/grinder or bite the end off so that it is now 98mm long.

The problem with the collet end falling off is that it was never put on (properly). Without the nail you stand a damn good chance of cocking up every other kit as the collet needs to be pressed onto the tube against the presure of the spring and it needs three hands and the patience of a saint.
Get the nail and thread the components on like this:

wwp assembly 1.jpg

Push them up so they look like this:

wwp assembly 2.jpg

Now carefully compress thespring so that you feel the collet slip inside the long thin easily breakable tube on the right hand side of the picture (get the problem! easy to compress and bugger up the tube if you dont have it aligned properly!)
Once you feel that the collet is inside the tube, compress the assembly between the nail head and the end of the flimsy tube and you will feel the collet slip inside the flimsy tube. .

Continue with assembly

Sounds like another crap kit to add to the collection init?
So it's not just taking the clip away and adding that silly belt that's changed then?

Brian,
There are two kits around, one with the "silly belt" and no clip and one with the clip and no belt. Dont give a toss if there is or isnt a belt, I sold 16 of these this weekend and 12 the week before!

Neil a breath of fresh air to see your contributions I have missed them they are factual, experienced and essential to allow us to make up our own minds on the use of kits and the state of the markets in general actual facts are important.

Peter.
