I've been making some Xmas pens inspired by our great Woody, and my wife is busy applying the nail decals. I wanted ask you, Woody, how best to apply the spray lacquer? Do you put the barrels back on the mandrel and spray with the lathe on or how off and turn it by hand?
Or use something else to hold the barrels? :nooidea:

I have a block of wood with six 2" nails part way in I just put the parts to be sprayed over the nails then spray each side lightly and leave them on there till dry about 1 hour to touch dry 24 hours to fully cure good luck

I've sprayed mine up and I was worried I was going to get runs but I had a quick look before I went to work and they appear to be okay. Do you spray the top halves as well woody or do you polish them as normal?
